Health doesn't need to be complicated.
There is no shortage of diets, training plans and opinions telling you what to do.
At Rugged, we keep coming back to six foundations.
Move. Nutrition. Recovery. Mindset. Challenge. Supplements.
They are the things I have seen work in real life, with my own training, my clients and the people I have coached over the years.
Not perfect.
Just consistent.
MOVE
Movement is the base of the Rugged Six.
Walking, lifting, running, hiking, training, sport or simply getting your steps in all count. The goal is not to train like an athlete every day, it is to build a body that stays capable, strong and ready for life.
Move daily. Build the base. Keep showing up.
NUTRITION
Nutrition is how you fuel the work.
It supports your training, recovery, energy, strength and long-term health. Keep it simple: prioritise protein, stay hydrated, eat plenty of whole foods, and build habits you can actually stick to.
Fuel well. Recover better. Keep moving forward.
RECOVERY
Recovery is what allows you to keep showing up.
Sleep is the foundation, but recovery also includes mobility, stretching, massage, osteopathy, hot and cold therapies, and knowing when to ease off. It is about looking after your body so you can adapt, rebuild and keep moving well.
Recover properly. Move better. Stay ready.
MINDSET
Mindset is the internal work.
It is built through discipline, reflection, focus and learning to sit with discomfort. Journalling, reading, meditation, breathing, quiet time, walking outdoors or simply taking ten minutes away from your phone can all help you become more aware, more resilient and more consistent.
Think clearer. Stay focused. Keep showing up.
Challenge
Challenge is where growth happens.
It gives your habits a purpose and gives you something to aim at. It does not have to be extreme, but it should push you a little, make you uncomfortable and test you physically and mentally.
Everyone’s Everest is different.
Your challenge might be a 5k, a half marathon, a fitness race, a mountain, a long-distance walk, a Rugged hike, or something you have been putting off.
Pick something. Prepare for it. Test yourself.
