How It Works
Walk/Hike/Run
Log your movement and effort
Get outside. Whether it’s a city walk, hill hike, or mountain mission, it all counts. Use your watch, phone app, or GPS tracker — and track your progress in kilometres and elevation.
Score Points
Earn points for every move you make
1 point per KM walked or hiked
2 points per 100m elevation of gain
10 points for every 500+ peak climbed

100km-20 points

Example: Jade – The Hiker
Jade hikes steep trails and summits local peaks.
One weekend she does a 10km hike with 800m elevation gain.
Total = 36 points from one hike

One weekend she does a 25km coastal route with 200m elevation.
Total = 29 points from one walk

How to track your progress
To take part in The Rugged Challenge, you’ll need to use Strava—a free GPS tracking app that logs your walks, hikes, distance, and elevation.
- Download Strava (if you don't already have)
- Track all your outdoor Walks & Hikes using the App
- Join The Rugged Challenge Private Strava Group (see sign up email)
- Your activity inside the group automatically contributes to your monthly stats.
